March at HYS

MARCH KAL - 2 sweaters to choose from!

Don’t you just love our KALs? (Knit-a-longs 😉) So do we! How about DOUBLE the FUN in March? We think this month’s choices are going to grab your attention! The first is a brand new sweater from Andrea Mowry, and the second is a fun pattern from Knit Collage. We love the creative designs from both of these designers, but the yarns used in them are often hard to find and can be just a little out of budget for many knitters. So we’ve come up with some great alternative yarn combos we can’t wait to share with you. Both sweaters are very size inclusive and allow you to play with color.

METAMORPHIC uses two strands of yarn, a solid DK and a color-changing sport weight yarn. Like most patterns from Andrea Mowry, the directions are very clear and she addresses all of the concerns a knitter might run into during the project. She even directs you to video tutorials so you can watch her go through a new technique before you try it. This sweater would be great if you like step by step instructions while you’re knitting.

We’ve already been playing with yarn color combos! Can’t wait to help you choose yours!

If you’re an adventurous knitter (even a beginner) and comfortable experimenting with multiple strands of yarn and adjusting a pattern to different widths and lengths, you might like to try BE MINE or BE MINE STRIPED. This fun sweater is knit sideways from cuff to cuff. You can use a super bulky yarn like malabrigo Rasta or dig into your stash and see what you could hold together to create a one of a kind multi-strand yarn!

Kristen and Linda brought in some stash yarn and supplemented with some yarn from the shop. (Look for their sweaters in a future “Finished it Friday” on our Facebook page. ) It’s so fun to play with this one!

If you’re feeling a little adventurous, come see us! We love helping customers pull together the perfect project.
