April at HYS…
It’s APRIL and that means the shop is BLOOMING with new colorful yarns and we are getting geared up for the West Michigan Yarn Quest! Keep scrolling to see what we’ve chosen for the monthly KAL and to get some sneak peeks at new yarns!

For the month of April we have not one, but TWO patterns to choose from. We couldn’t help ourselves, there are just so many new yarns that will be gorgeous for spring and summer projects. The first pattern is DOREL, by Alison Green. Dorel features a simple diamond lace yoke motif. Worked from the top down in a popular silhouette. The Ravelry page features Berocco Meraki, but Henny used Zooey from Juniper Moon Farm and then trimmed it with a contrasting color of Meraki for our shop sample. We have both yarns in oodles of colors as well as many other yarns that would work great.

The second pattern you can knit is Varya, by Alison Green. Varya is a casual tee with a diamond lace motif and split hem. The back and front hems are worked separately, then joined and the body is worked in the round to the underarms. The piece is then divided for back and front which are worked flat. Henny used Berocco Meraki, like the pattern suggested, but we have have numerous other yarns that would work equally nice ;)

Zooey and Zooey Stripes!
We have several cheery colors of Zooey and a new self-striping version of the popular cotton/linen blend from Juniper Moon Farm.
FLORA
Flora, a pure colorful cotton named for the beauty of spring gardens in bloom, has a gauge of 6 stitches per inch on US 3 (3.25mm) and is a marled-style multi available in a variety of pretty pastels.
Moonshine Fine Hand Paints
This is a pretty sport weight blend of alpaca, wool, silk and nylon.
Ella Rae Sunburst
This colorful cotton worsted is new the shop and comes with several fun patterns to choose from that are free with your yarn purchase!
Coastline by Jody Long
Coastline is a luxurious cotton and linen blend spun in Italy. The distressed colors, a result of the ways the fibers take the dyes at different rates, add extra depth to the finished fabric. The marled effect evokes a sun dappled day at the beach!
