March at HYS...

March is here! Yippee! That means spring temperatures are right around the corner… So we picked the perfect project for this month’s KAL - The WILLOW CARDI - a colorful cardigan that will be perfect for bridging the seasons. This one brings back all the nostalgia of your grandma’s feather and fan blankets, but with a fresh new sense of style.

We love the colorful versions that Henny and Kristen knit for the shop, but this would also look gorgeous in a palette of neutrals, soft pastels, or something dark and moody. It’s knit in worsted weight yarns, but you can also use DK held double. Maybe you have some yarn in your stash that could get you started? Bring that in and we can help you fill in the gaps to complete your palette.

You’ll save 15% on yarn for this project with your KAL discount. The pattern is available on Ravelry by clicking HERE.

Need help deciding on some colors? No problem! We’ve put together a collection of beautiful color palettes to spark your creativity…

The March Sock of the Month is the HIBERNAL SOCKS by Summer Lee. Worked cuff down, this classic pattern is easy to memorize, and a joy to knit. That lovely texture is a faux cable technique that is so simple, yet adds the intricate look of cables!

Speaking of Summer Lee… did you know we have a fresh stock of her awesome book THE SOCK PROJECT?!? It’s like a colorful sock class in a book. Everything a beginner needs to know about sock knitting, as well as plenty of inspiration for an experienced sock knitter. We think you’ll love this one as much as we do!

WOOOHOOOOO! It’s almost that time of year again! The WEST MICHIGAN YARN QUEST is coming May 10th thru May 20th. Passports will go on sale April 1. Now is the time to start gathering your yarn besties and making plans for the greatest ROAD TRIP ever! You can catch more details by following the WMYQ social pages on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM.

SPRING KNITTING IDEAS…

YouTube is a great place to get inspiration for knitting and crochet. Here are just a few great pattern ideas we got from watching this knitting podcast from Youngfolk Knits. Don’t have time to watch the video? She also shared a bundle of the patterns on RAVELRY.

That’s all for now! Can’t wait to see you at the shop :)

Warm and wooly regards from all your friends at Henny’s Yarn shop!
